Fitnah Wanita

This few years I had witness a case whereby my friend’s marriage crumbled because of Fitnah Wanita. It started out as a typical and casual friendship between a married man and a woman. Since the man is arrogant enough to seek protection from Allah, he carried on with his ego thinking that nothing serious will happen. Well too many things happens and the pains it caused to his loved ones are irrepairable.

This morning I read a story of a married woman who wanted to test her beauty and to see whether a man will fall for her. I’m not sure whether this story is sahih but the moral of the story is strong enough for me to share with married women out there. May we repent and seek protection from Allah from wanting to seek for haram friendship. (cliche justification from them: kita tak buat salah, kita kawan sahaja….once you read the story below you will be ashamed of your answer)

Last days of Ramadhan

I could see the Holy Masjidil Haram from my bedroom window. When I am not there I will be looking out of my window trying to capture the moment and everything that happens. The nights of Ramadhan in Mecca is beyond anything that you have seen elsewhere.

umrah-045

Every night I will take this busy route between Hilton and Al Safwa Towers to go to the mosque. It will only take me 5 minutes walk or lesser to be in there.

umrah-030

There was one time when I was doing my tawaf, I heard a familiar voice reciting the verses of Al quran for the taraweeh prayers. It was Sheikh Abdul Rahman Sudais, a voice that lingers through one’s head if they are familiar to various mobile al-quran apps. Praying taraweeh in Masjidil Al haram and Masjid An Nabawi and able to do umrah and tawaf in the month of ramadan is the favour from the Almighty. I’m thankful that I became HIS guest in HIS holy land in the Holy month of ramadhan . The feeling inside of me is unexplainable although I have tried many times to put it down in words. Everytime I think about my time there and my life after that, I will be filled with overwhelming feeling and emotions. My relationship with Allah….remains a secret.

Today, there is just too many feelings inside of me. Its gonna be the last few days of Ramadhan and I always get nervous during this time.

Here I am in front of Masjid Quba. I remembered my unstoppable cries here. It was the first mosque built in Madinah by the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and also known as Masjid Taqwa. It is here that I made dua to seek Allah’s help and protection as I go through my personal hijrah .

Sahabat And Adoption

As we read and recite the Al- Quran there are many questions that lingers in our head. As much as possible, if there is doubt it is good to get further explanation from Islamic scholars. As I was reading facts about the Holy Quran, I came across the fact that there is only one of the sahabat’s name mentioned in the Al-Quran. There were also other names mentioned in the Al-Quran and InsyaAllah we will review them sooner or later.

Surah Al Ahzab (ayat 37)

And [remember, O Muhammad], when you said to the one on whom Allah bestowed favor and you bestowed favor, “Keep your wife and fear Allah ,” while you concealed within yourself that which Allah is to disclose. And you feared the people, while Allah has more right that you fear Him. So when Zayd had no longer any need for her, We married her to you in order that there not be upon the believers any discomfort concerning the wives of their adopted sons when they no longer have need of them. And ever is the command of Allah accomplished.

So who is Zaid and why was he named mentioned? Al-Tabari states that Q33:40 was revealed because the Munafiqun made this a topic of their conversation and reviled the Prophet, saying Muhammad prohibits [marriage] with the [former] wives of one’s own sons, but he married the [former] wife of his son Zayd.

Surah Al Ahzab (ayat 4)

Allah has not made for a man two hearts in his interior. And He has not made your wives whom you declare unlawful your mothers. And he has not made your adopted sons your [true] sons. That is [merely] your saying by your mouths, but Allah says the truth, and He guides to the [right] way.

Surah Al Ahzab (ayat 5)

Call them by [the names of] their fathers; it is more just in the sight of Allah . But if you do not know their fathers – then they are [still] your brothers in religion and those entrusted to you. And there is no blame upon you for that in which you have erred but [only for] what your hearts intended. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.

Zayd reverted to being known by his original name of Zayd ibn Harithah and was no longer considered Muhammad’s legal son after the revelation of the two ayat above.

This bring us to the issues of adoption. Best explained by the scholars on issues of mahram. Wallahu a’lam

Fresh Tamar

The last I ate this was in 2010. Had it in Madinah and managed to buy 2 packs in Mekah to bring back home. Performing umrah in the month of Ramadhan back then was a blessing for me. It is with Allah’s mercy that I managed to go through it with all the challenging conditions. Alhamdulillah.

Old Place aka Chan Win bungalow

PT3 sejarah paper this year requires the kids to do a report of bangunan bersejarah. So last saturday was our short excursion to the Old National Palace aka Muzium Diraja.

Can you believe it, after 41 years I finally step foot at Istana Negara. And I guess the same goes for those parents who brought their kids for the same reason too.

Adik is the excited one. She scrutinized all the rooms and was impressed that the Agong and the Pemaisuri had different bath chambers. But the creepy place for her was the clinic.

So who was Chan Win? He is the guy who built the intial bungalow to place his 8 wives and 22 kids. He fled the country during the Japanese occupation. The state of selangor bought it after that for Sir Hisamudin before the Federal Government bought it and made it the official Palace.

Biskut Raya

Bertahun dah pencen buat biskut raya ni. Malas and busy. Making it is simple tutup mata pun boleh…cewah…tapi the cleaning part tu yang malas sangat. So I end up buying cookies for raya.

But today, after our Istana Negara trip this morning tetiba terasa pulak nak buat cookies. Maybe is the fact that I saw many bilik santapan at the palace tadi kut.

And so here is my famous choc chip dough. One great tip about making choc chip cookies is to refrigerate your dough for at least a day. Dulu2 I used to have the dough ready in the fridge all the time. Bila rasa nak eat cookies, I just bake a small portion of it.

But nowadays dah tak sempat nak buat cause weekends are normally too pack with the kids activities and other house chores

Spicy Korean Noodle Challenge

The 1st challenge is to say goodbye to RM24.90 for a pack of 5 ramen noodles. Boleh beli 3 packs aka 15 Maggi Royale.

The 2nd challenge is eating without water. Bolehlah…pedas dia macam makan sambal hijau yang kat dapur penyet tu. Tapi the spiciness didnt last that long in the mouth.

image

Tapi untuk tidak menzalimi diri yang pernah warded in the hospital because of chilli overload, I decided to drink water thus making me lost the challenge. I gave a pack to my GM and challenged him. Waiting for his video now.

Food

Its the 10th day and so far we have yet to go out to buy food from the stalls in the bazaar. Every meal is home prepared. Nothing too fancy but just nice to ensure that everybody gets fuelled up for the night and wee morning ibadah.

image

My favorite day was when we made oxtail soup. I managed to achieve the thick consistency and flavor that you get when eating oxtail soup at famous mamak joint. DiTC made superb sambal belacan to be eaten with the fried fish. He also made telur bistik and the famous cek mek. So simple but yet fulfilling.

image

Another favorite day is when we had ayam goreng pandan, ikan tiga rasa and mixed vege.

image

Since going to Muara Sg Duyong is not practical during the ramadhan, we made loads of chilli crab to indulge and I made adik’s favorite spicy bbq buffalo wings and bubur jagung.

image

When we were at my MIL’s place for iftar during the weekend, she gave us the green chillies from Kelantan. Perfect for DiTC to try his skill in making solok. It was totally yummy.

DiTC made many favorite dessert such as  koci, puteri dua sebilik and bom bijan using red potatoes.
